Pieces of Hope

hope-in-a-bottle

I’m starting a series about hope, what is it? Why do we need it? How can it be used to spur us into action? Most importantly- how does it save us when we feel like it is lost? I also want to explore how hope leads to being inspired and the want to pass it on, much like I’m doing with this series. I will start the conversation and I have asked friends to contribute if they choose, this invitation also goes out to you- the you whose eyes have landed on this page.

First things first- let’s define hope.  From the Merriam Webster’s Dictionary-

Hope as a verbto want something to happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true

Hope as a noun: the feeling of wanting something to happen and thinking that it could happen; a feeling that something good will happen or be true; the chance that something good will happen; someone or something that may be able to provide help; someone or something that gives you a reason for hoping

So, now that we all have an understanding of what hope is defined as, we can all define it for ourselves. Because in the end, we all will still define it differently- what my hope is will certainly be different from yours, but the general premise is the same. My hope is that you will take away from this series a hopefulness that will keep you sustained when you feel it slipping away, that you will see you are not alone when you do feel hopeless, and that you will find a way to keep your hope alive and spread it out into the world.
